Five options the Atlanta Falcons have to replace Matt Ryan
By Nick Halden
5. As bleak as it may be to consider Andy Dalton is one of the top five options on the free-agent market
Andy Dalton is too talented to be a backup quarterback and at this point not talented enough to be a starter in this league. We have seen this play out with the Bears, Cowboys, and the Bengals Dalton has talent and with the right roster can pull a team to the wildcard but that is as far as they will go.
Dalton has had a solid career and if he wishes has another five years left as a backup option or a stop-gap on a bad team.
Dalton isn’t going to help your team win games but he won’t lose them for you either. If you have a roster that has a running game and a good to great defense Dalton can get you to the playoffs This happened with the Bengals multiple times the problem comes when Dalton gets to the playoffs and has to match a top ten quarterback, simply put he cannot.
If the unthinkable were to happen and the Falcons were forced to go a different direction Dalton is their 5th best option. A veteran quarterback that could give Atlanta another year to rebuild and find a real answer at the position. For those who have doubted Ryan, this is how bleak it can get for a team that doesn’t have Matt Ryan.
