3. Another member of Mariota’s draft class may have figured it out with the Saints, Jameis Winston

Having watched the New Orleans Saints with Winston and without him this season the difference is shocking. Winston seemed to be the engine keeping the Saints in contention and helping them keep pace in the division early on.

Winston took time to sit behind Drew Brees and learn from his mistakes. Mistakes the Falcons have benefitted from more than once over the years.

What we saw of Winston this season was promising he had cut down on his turnovers and ran the offense efficiently.  Winston is still young and could be the answer at the position for a number of years.

The concerns here are obvious outside of the New Orleans bubble will Winston’s turnover struggles return? How terribly would this Atlanta Falcons team have finished if Ryan turned the ball over at the rate Winston has historically?

If Atlanta opted to go this route they would need to be committed to the run and bring in a myriad of receiving options to help guide Winston. Jameis starting in Atlanta is never going to happen, however, if we are compiling a list of best options he is certainly a top three free agent at his position.
