Matt Ryan has been the face of the Atlanta Falcons franchise for fourteen years, in that time Ryan has won an MVP, made a Super Bowl appearance, and established himself in the record books. Now with a young rebuilding team, there is reason to wonder how long Ryan will stick around?

Headed into what will be his age thirty-seven season with a lot of miles on his arm and far too many hits absorbed all options should be on the table. Ryan demanding a trade is very out of character but it is a move the veteran has to consider.

Demanding a trade to a far better situation is something that could benefit both sides. However, it seems unlikely considering the massive dead cap hit Atlanta would suffer for trading Ryan. If Atlanta were to move Ryan it would likely be in 2023. Leaving Ryan one shocking option, the veteran could decide to call it quits.

Retiring would be a surprising move but one that makes sense when you look a bit closer and consider the direction Atlanta is heading there are three obvious reasons Ryan could retire.
