The most glaring issue for the Atlanta Falcons in 2021 was their inability to win in the trenches on either side of the ball. The defensive line was often abused with Atlanta’s only impact player dealing with double teams.

Grady Jarrett wasn’t as impactful as he has been in past seasons because of the lack of help around him. On the offensive side of the ball, the offensive line was unable to hold up in pass protection and allowed Matt Ryan to lead the league in quarterback hits taken.

As we close in on the off-season and draw closer to the draft it is obvious Atlanta’s focus will be in the trenches. While they must also find help in the secondary and receiver groupings improving the trenches will be their focus.

One player that would instantly fix the middle of the Atlanta Falcons defense is Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis was dominating with the Georgia Bulldogs on their way to winning the championship. He imploded the offensive line, stopped the run game, got after the passer, and even cleared a scoring lane for the offense around the goal line.

Davis is going to be a very good NFL player for a long time and is exactly what the Falcons need. At this point, Davis projects to be a mid-first-round draft pick. This could give Atlanta the option to trade down and draft Davis while acquiring more picks.

Davis doesn’t fix Atlanta’s lack of a pass rush but he certainly helps and goes a long way to stopping opposing run games. Imagine pairing a player of Jordan’s size and abilities with Grady Jarrett.

This pairing would have a chance to be the most dominating defensive line pairing in the league. Jarrett has already proven he has this ability and Davis certainly has the talent. With a lot of positions to fill and questions to be answered this off-season, the Falcons drafting Davis is a long shot. Though one that certainly makes a lot of sense and a move Atlanta should explore closely as we move closer to the draft.

Atlanta should sign Odell. dark. Next
