5. A.J. Green makes sense only if Atlanta is able to bring back Calvin Ridley

If Calvin Ridley returns next season Atlanta’s need for a number one receiver shrinks in comparison to their need to add help in the trenches. If Ridley returns Atlanta is going to need a secondary option to come in and line up across from Ridley.

A.J. Green fits that description and has been a number one option at times throughout his career. Green finished the year with 848-receiving yards despite playing in an Arizona offense that often had him as the third option.

Green played college ball in Georgia and would be a popular addition. Much like Robinson Green hasn’t played with a quarterback of Ryan’s skill level and would likely see an uptick of production because of it.

The Cardinals have two key free agents at the position Green and the much younger Christian Kirk it is hard to see Arizona chasing Green considering the money they already have tied up at the position.

Under the right circumstances signing A.J. Green makes a lot of sense for the Falcons and leaves them plenty of room to make other free agency moves.

Regardless of the players, they choose Atlanta should head into 2022 with a completely new receiver core.
