2. Matt Ryan is locked in as the starting quarterback for Atlanta next season

Matt Ryan trade rumors haven’t made any sense for the Falcons since Ryan’s deal was re-worked over a year ago.  Matt Ryan traded or cut still would be Atlanta’s highest-paid player next season even if he were playing in another uniform.

Put his accomplishments and ability aside and simply look at the contract situation. Ryan isn’t movable, Atlanta needs to continue to attempt to build around their veteran for at least another year and then re-visit Ryan’s future.

Even if the salary cap allowed Ryan to be moved who is Atlanta acquiring that is an upgrade? There isn’t a top quarterback on the market that is going to want to come to Atlanta and the quarterback draft class is thin.

Atlanta needs to put their trust in Ryan for one more season and focus on building a team around him that fits his skill set just as they did in 2016 and 2017.

Those were the last two years that the Falcons were in the playoffs and the last time Matt Ryan truly had a cast offensively to support him.  The focus of the off-season should be finding those players that helps Atlanta return to the success they have had with Ryan.
