5 Surprise targets for the Atlanta Falcons this off-season
By Nick Halden
1. Amari Cooper could become a surprise cut and Atlanta Falcons target this off-season
Amari Cooper will be the third-highest Cowboy’s cap hit heading into next season and has been surpassed as the team’s best receiver. CeeDee Lamb is the best receiver in Dallas and should be the featured weapon next season.
Cooper is overpaid when you consider his production and Dallas could easily decide to cut Cooper and bring in a receiver to play sidekick to Lamb. If Cooper hits the market he will become one of many solid free-agent receivers.
He makes a lot of sense in Atlanta when you watch the tape he has put together. He would work well in Arthur Smith’s offense and would likely be cheaper than Odell Beckham Jr. or Chris Godwin. Cooper or Allen Robinson are likely better cap hits if Atlanta opts to sign a number one receiver this off-season.
Cooper has 46-career touchdown catches and has 4-seasons that he has surpassed 1,000-receiving yards. He is still only twenty-seven and if he were to hit the market would become a perfect fit with the Atlanta Falcons. Fixing the team’s issues at the position and giving Ryan a much-needed veteran target.
