3. The Atlanta Falcons don’t retain Hayden Hurst, Evan Engram could become a surprise option

Evan Engram never lived up to expectations with the New York Giants and wasn’t the star player New York hoped he would be. It certainly didn’t help matter that he has had Eli Manning and Daniel Jones as his primary quarterbacks during his time with the Giants. A change of scenery is in order and Atlanta could become a surprise contender for Engram.

Matt Ryan loves throwing to a reliable tight-end as evidenced by big seasons from Hayden Hurst and Jacob Tamme after joining forces with the veteran quarterback. Both Tamme and Hurst put together great seasons after struggling elsewhere. Engram would be a good addition to that list and would allow Atlanta to run out of a lot of heavy sets with Engram and Pitts both on the field.

Atlanta will need to add at least one starting-caliber tight-end this off-season and if they want to move on from Hurst Engram should be their number one target.  In the right situation, Engram still has the talent to be a great player and needs a quarterback who can recognize his capabilities. Engram would also be helped by the fact that he would be playing with Kyle Pitts.
