#58 S Jalen Pitre- Baylor

Pitre is another player that is unlikely to be available come the Atlanta Falcons turn in round two but stranger things have happened in the draft and in this particular simulation Pitre is still on the board when the Falcons number is called.

Pitre is primarily a box safety that excels at getting into the backfield by fighting through blocks and being stern of the edge. Pitre is fluid and smart in coverage and has a general knack for playmaking whether it be from a pure tackling standpoint or forcing turnovers. If the Falcons aren’t able or decide not to draft Hamilton, Jalen is the best fit for Atlanta and could be paired with a veteran to lock down the secondary.

Pitre and Stingley combined are more than enough to give Atlanta a good secondary one that will have a chance to vault their defense back into respectability. Pitre falling this far seems unlikely but it could happen when you consider how fluid draft rankings seem to be.  Three picks in and Atlanta has found their edge rusher and rebuilt their secondary. Three steps in the right direction for a team whose focus will likely be on rebuilding the defense this off-season.
