#112 RB James Cook, Georgia

The future at RB is quite gloomy for the Falcons as well, Cordarrelle Patterson had a really impressive year as a runner and pass-catcher but is entering his 10th season and is due for free agency. Mike Davis was pretty unimpressive in his first season and is only under contract through 2022, Atlanta needs to add some fresh talent to its backfield and the versatile Cook that brings top-notch athleticism and is tough to bring down in the open field would be a great addition.

Watching James Cook catch passes out of the backfield on Georgia’s title run reminded many Atlanta fans of when Atlanta had Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman heavily involved in the passing game. James Cook brings that same skill set and appears to have better speed and perhaps better hands.

Cook with the Atlanta Falcons and Matt Ryan would be a great pairing and one that would offset the loss of Cordarrelle Patterson if Atlanta were to lose the utility player. Even if the Falcons retain Patterson Cook can fill the role Mike Davis did last season and give Atlanta a mismatch they can send out of the backfield to the receiver position. The only concern with this move is the fact that Cook isn’t spectacular at blitz pick up a trait that Atlanta needs with their current offensive line construction.
