There is no questioning the fact that the Atlanta Falcons are going to have to address the receiver position this off-season. The one question facing Atlanta is whether they will attempt to add that receiver in the draft or through free agency or both? One surprising free-agent target could emerge for Atlanta if the Falcons are patient this off-season.

It seems increasingly likely that the Dallas Cowboys and Amari Cooper are going to part ways in an attempt to create more cap space. While it wouldn’t shocking to see Cooper skyrocket out of Atlanta’s price range he is a target that makes far too much sense for Atlanta not to attempt to sign.

Two out of the last three years Amari has surpassed 1,000-receiving yards and he would be a perfect three for three if not for COVID wreaking havoc across the league.

Amari Cooper and Matt Ryan would be a great veteran pairing that would give the Atlanta Falcons offense a chance to contend

Matt Ryan needs a number one veteran target added this off-season. You cannot ask Ryan to carry a bad offense without at least one target he can rely on at the receiver position. Even if Calvin Ridley comes back to Atlanta his future and football career are nothing but question marks as he deals with his off-the-field health.

Ridley’s health and well-being are the priority but from a football perspective, Atlanta needs to deal with the fact that they could be without their star receiver. Finding another option gives Atlanta security and a great option to pair with Ridley if he returns.

Cooper, Ridley, and Kyle Pitts would be a great trio that would give the Atlanta offense a chance to take a huge step forward and contend in a surprisingly weak NFC South. Amari Cooper maybe Atlanta’s best shot of adding a number one receiver without breaking the bank. If that’s the case there should be no question that Atlanta needs to chase Amari this off-season.
