Some of the biggest news of the offseason thus far for the Atlanta Falcons, and the entire NFL, was the announcement that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Tom Brady, retired.

Brady has long been a thorn in the Falcons’ side, as they were never able to beat him despite having ten shots at doing so. No one was happier to see Brady retire than the Falcons. Now Atlanta has a much better shot at stealing the division.

What would happen if Tom Brady joined the Atlanta Falcons?

This is a very hypothetical question, as the last team that Tom Brady would want to join might just be the Falcons for numerous reasons.

Let’s just say we get a few weeks into the season, Tom Brady unretires, and the Buccaneers for some reason decide it is a good idea to trade him to a division rival. The Falcons would no doubt improve, that is nothing against Matt Ryan but we are talking about a guy who has won seven Super Bowls.

The big question is if they would improve enough to become playoff contenders, and that is a very difficult question to answer.

The biggest issue would be the fact that Tom Brady would be 45 years old, playing behind one of the worst, if not the worst, offensive lines in the NFL. Brady knows how to maneuver a pocket, but even then there are limitations.

Needless to say, the offensive line would be the difference between the team making the playoffs or not, as is the case with Matt Ryan under center.

The next problem lies in who he has to throw the ball to. The big-name that will almost certainly be available—barring injury—is Kyle Pitts. You could make an argument for Pitts being the most talented player Brady would have ever played with. He will certainly be the focal point of the offense.

Aside from Pitts, it is a ton of question marks. Who will be playing receiver for the team? Will Calvin Ridley be back? Will Cordarrelle Patterson be back? You get the idea.

And then there is the defense, which is not even comparable to what Brady has worked with in New England and Tampa Bay. The Falcons’ defense is a disaster.

Overall, the Falcons would probably be the worst team that Tom Brady played on, and who knows if even Brady would be able to carry the team into the playoffs.

Next. Falcons must trade down in the draft. dark
