2. Outside Linebacker

The Atlanta Falcons brought in a new defensive coordinator in 2021, Dean Pees. Pees has been known for his 3-4 scheme and his heavy blitzing. He is one of the most seasoned coordinators in the entire NFL, but it could be argued that he has never had to coach a defense that lacks this much talent.

Outside linebacker is an important position in a 3-4 scheme. They are often responsible for getting to the quarterback and setting the edge, but it is hard to do that when you only have the following players under contract:

  • Ade Ogundeji
  • John Cominsky
  • Quinton Bell
  • Jordan Brailford

These are four guys who should not be thrown into a starting role in 2022—they likely will not be as the team is bound to go heavy on finding pass rushers.

These are also four guys that most NFL fans will not know who any of them are.

Sure Ogundeji was a surprise last year in how much he played, but to have him as your best option is simply a disaster.

And then you have John Cominsky who rarely played last season and was a cut candidate throughout the year.

Safe to say this is a position the team will be a heavy target.
