3 Reasons the Atlanta Falcons shouldn’t trade for Deshaun Watson

1. Deshaun Watson’s legal situation

Deshaun Watson’s legal situation is ongoing despite the fact the quarterback will not face criminal charges for his alleged misconduct.  You can read the full timeline of Watson’s case here. 

Whether or not Watson is going to face suspension from the league or any type of punishment isn’t yet known for sure. What is known is the number of accusations and the off-the-field concerns should be a huge factor for any team that thinks about chasing Deshaun Watson. You will be paying picks and possibly players for a quarterback who may not even be allowed on the field for a time. We don’t know what Watson’s future in the league looks like or what turns his legal situation could take in the future.

Any team that goes after Watson is acquiring a player who is facing a lot off the field questions and scrutiny. Teams and owners have often ignored the off-the-field concerns if the player is a star who can help win and while Watson certainly fits that description trading for Watson is the wrong move for Atlanta.

There are a lot of football reasons that we will break down as to why Atlanta shouldn’t trade for Watson, however, the biggest reason shouldn’t trade for Deshaun is because of the off-the-field concerns.
