3. How will Atlanta fix the roster if they trade for Deshaun Watson?

Put aside the obvious off-the-field concerns and the fact that Atlanta is tied to Matt Ryan and think logically about a trade for the quarterback. Atlanta will likely have to trade at least two first-round picks and other draft and roster assets. If Atlanta is then stuck paying Watson and Ryan how are they going to rebuild a roster that is short of talent?

You won’t have cap space to bring in free agents to fix issues short term and you won’t have the needed draft picks to fix issues long term. Your roster is going to be stuck in rebuilding mode for at least two seasons despite the fact you acquired Watson.

Atlanta would be far better served to use their cap space to work on their roster and use the draft to rebuild. Going after Watson now doesn’t make sense even if there weren’t any concerns. Fixing their roster is going to be a long process even without throwing a blockbuster trade into the mix. If Atlanta is smart they will stay far away from a Watson trade and instead put their focus on fixing their offensive line and acquiring weapons for the quarterback they have on their roster.
