Before the Calvin Ridley suspension news broke the Atlanta Falcons badly needed help at the receiver position. Not only do they lack depth at the position they lack any clear starter with Russell Gage a free agent and Calvin Ridley on the shelf. Atlanta is going to have to make a splash at the position and make a myriad of moves to fix this issue.

One obvious move was Amari Cooper when it seemed likely that Dallas was getting ready to cut their star receiver. Instead, the Browns traded a late draft pick for Cooper and opted to cut Jarvis Landry. The move comes after the Browns cut Odell Beckham Jr. mid-season, Odell followed his release with impressive production and a Super Bowl ring with the Rams.

There is something about Baker Mayfield and the Browns that just doesn’t seem to quite work with great receivers. Whether it is the quarterback’s style or the run-heavy offense it would not be at all surprising to see Landry follow in Odell’s footsteps and see his production largely increase when he lands elsewhere.

Jarvis Landry belongs on a list with Odell Beckham Jr. and Allen Robinson as perfect Atlanta Falcons targets

Landry would be a great move for Atlanta and give Matt Ryan a reliable target he can lean on. While he isn’t as elite a receiver as Odell or Robinson he doesn’t come with the injury concerns that Odell brings or likely the large price tag that Robinson would demand.

Arthur Smith’s offense is perfect for a receiver like Landry and would likely see the receiver’s production take a huge step forward. Jarvis is still only 29-years old and likely has 3-4 years of prime production left. Paired with Matt Ryan Landry would help the Atlanta offense take a step forward and replace Calvin Ridley until the receiver is able to return from his suspension.
