The Atlanta Falcons have a plan in free agency and we can only guess what that plan may be. With every plan comes the potential that it might get screwed up due to unforeseen circumstances, and those circumstances seemed to have happened to the Falcons.

The Jaguars have spent big on the first day of legal tampering, and it may have unintended consequences on the Falcons, for a couple of reasons.

The Jaguars spending has messed up the market, to the demise of the Falcons

The most obvious case of the Jaguars decisions haunting the Atlanta Falcons is their choice to sign Foye Oluokun to a big contract worth $45 million over three years.

That is simply a contract that Atlanta could not pay, especially when you consider what they are paying Deion Jones. Reports were that the Falcons were trying hard to keep Foye around but obviously, his market was too big for them to match, not much they could have done about it.

The less obvious consequence of the Jaguars signings is based around them signing wide receiver, Christian Kirk to a massive deal. You can argue he is massively overpaid with the contract coming in at four years, $84 million.

And what position do the Falcons need to target in free agency? Yes, wide receiver.

There are still some good ones available with the likes of Allen Robinson, Juju Smith-Schuster, and none other than Russell Gage.

However, the Jags may have thrown a wrench into the possibility of the Falcons affording one of those guys.

Both Allen Robinson and Juju Smith-Schuster have had better seasons than that of Christian Kirk. They can now use him as leverage to get even more money than anyone would have expected, thus driving their price higher than Atlanta can afford.

As it so happens, them signing Zay Jones to $30 million, could have the same effect, they may have even driven up the price on themselves.

Even Russell Gage will be affected by this, he could also get even more money than anyone would have predicted.

So, thanks to the Jaguars and all their money, the Falcons might lose out on making a splash wide receiver signing.
