It has been another crazy day for Atlanta Falcons fans, with all the Deshaun Watson rumors floating around and their flurry of signings.

They have now agreed to another deal with a former Dolphins, Chiefs, and Bears running back

Atlanta Falcons sign Damien Williams to a one-year deal

This is a tremendous value signing for the Falcons, as Damien Williams has been an underrated player throughout his career, especially as a member of the Chiefs.

Williams has never had eye-popping production, however, he has been extremely solid as a rotational piece and it seems like the Falcons will have big plans for him this season.

His best year came in 2019 with the Chiefs when he totaled 498 rushing yards, 213 receiving yards, and seven total touchdowns. Although that might not seem like great stats, he only played in a total of 11 games and even when he was active, he was used as a third-down back, due to his exceptional receiving and blocking skills.

On the downside, this could signal the end for Cordarrelle Patterson as an Atlanta Falcon, while they certainly could use both players at the position—assuming Mike Davis is on his way out—they might elect to find a cheaper option in free agency or in the later rounds of the draft.

It would be extremely disheartening to see Patterson go, as he has been lobbying to stay in Atlanta on social media. He has talked about wanting to finish his career with the Falcons because of how much he loves playing in the city and playing for Arthur Smith.

Truth be told, this is not the news fans are waiting on as we all wait for the news on Deshaun Watson. Possibly this signing of Damien Williams signals toward the fact that Watson is leaning toward Atlanta, but we will not know until his decision is final.
