1. Draft Malik Willis with the #8 pick in the draft

It seems increasingly likely that Malik Willis is going to go somewhere in the top ten in the draft. If Willis makes it past the Carolina Panthers who draft two spots ahead of Atlanta the Falcons could make the tough decision to draft Willis and bring in a veteran to pair with Willis.

In this scenario, Matt Ryan is traded regardless of what happens with Watson. After not believing in him and chasing another quarterback is there really any chance of getting Ryan back into the fold?

Drafting Willis inside the top ten would be a huge swing that would put the current Atlanta Falcons regime’s fate in the hands of the rookie. A promising season and this front office will salvage some reliability.

A bad season from Willis and the Falcons could look to shake things up only two years into Arthur Smith’s tenure. Drafting a quarterback inside the top ten when you could have stayed committed to Matt Ryan or could have landed Deshaun Watson is not ideal for this front office. But without Watson who else is Atlanta going to chase with Ryan likely gone and Watson in New Orleans?
