2. Andy Dalton

There isn’t anyone that is going to be jumping up and down if the Falcons or any other team signs Andy Dalton as their starter. The quarterback is a low-tier starter and a high-level backup who is going to come in and be the adult in the room. Dalton for a season is a move Atlanta makes only if they are tanking for next year’s quarterback class.

However, the reality of Atlanta waiting so long to make a move at the position severely limits their options. Any free agent or trade top five would not be complete without Dalton considering his years with the Bengals. Dalton’s stops with the Bears and Cowboys have been far less impressive but he handled both jobs well for a backup.

If Atlanta is going to truly rebuild Andy Dalton would help their case and allow them a high draft pick next season. That is the only case for Dalton there isn’t anyone that is going to a Falcons game excited to see the “Red rifle” play.

Dalton remains a free agent and could be brought in on a bargain contract allowing Atlanta to make other moves in free agency and continue to set themselves up for the 2023 season. A tough reality to think about but it is on the table for Atlanta.
