Falcons can save a lot of money by trading LB Deion Jones

The Falcons are currently on a roster overhaul, to say the least. We have all watched numerous players walk out the door that in all likelihood, the previous regime would have signed to a large new contract.

It is actually refreshing to see some Atlanta Falcons players leave and sign big contracts elsewhere. It seemed like the previous regime wanted to keep everyone, and here we are trying to clean up after them.

One player who could be the next to go is linebacker Deion Jones. Jones had arguably his worst season as a pro. He was constantly a liability in coverage and was demoted for Foye Oluokun.

This is why the Falcons could and should look at shopping him. They should wait until post-June 1, as the cap savings are much better.

A trade prior to June 1 would only net $9 million in savings with a $10 million in dead cap, while trading him after June 1 would net $14 million with only $5 million in dead cap.

It does not take a genius to see which one is much better.

So, who are some of the teams who could be interested in the former Pro Bowl linebacker?
