Now that the Matt Ryan era is over, we can focus on who might become the next franchise quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.
Who knows if the team actually thinks that Marcus Mariota could become the leader of the team, but there is reason we all should be wary of calling him the heir to Matty Ice. After all, Arthur Smith did bench Marcus Mariota partway through the season back when they both were a part of the Tennessee Titans.
The Falcons should seriously consider drafting QB Malik Willis
The Atlanta Falcons have some big decisions to make in the upcoming draft, do they take their next franchise quarterback with the eighth overall pick, do they take a chance on a guy in the later rounds, or do they wait another year for the next quarterback crop?
It will be the big question for the next month and one that we will not know the answer to until the team is on the clock.
However, they should take a long and hard look at Liberty’s quarterback, Mallik Willis.
Willis is considered a developmental quarterback due to inconsistencies in his game but boy does he have the arm talent to be great. Just check out some of these throws from his pro day on Tuesday:
Malik Willis' arm strength is no joke. 😳 @malikwillis

His ability to just shoot the ball right into the wide receiver’s hands in stride is simply incredible.

On this one he just uncorks a rocket right over the shoulders of the receiver on the sideline, it is simply a throw that could not have been any more perfect.

The last one is by far the most impressive, he absolutely lauches a ball on the move and it lands right on the money.
Needless to say, this kid has rare arm talent, and he could be something special in Arthur Smith’s offense. They should take a long look at him if he is still available at pick eight.
