Atlanta Falcons draft a quarterback in this full 7 round mock draft
By Nick Halden
Cameron Thomas is far from a sure thing edge rusher but can Atlanta truly miss any worse than they have in recent memory? If they don’t take an edge rusher with their first-round pick Thomas is a solid prospect that will give Atlanta a project player who could prove to be a great rusher at the next level.
The concern with Thomas is his consistency and his ability to translate his skill set to the next level when you consider the level of athletes he was often competing against. Atlanta’s inability to find a consistent pass rush has been well covered even when the team was having success.
Veterans like Adrian Clayborn and Dwight Freeney are exceptions to the inconsistency over the last half-decade. Free agents and surprise contributors are the only ways Atlanta has been able to register any type of pass rush as most of their draft selections have proven to be major busts.
Vic Beasley and Takk Mckinley are headline names of Atlanta disappointments when it comes to their attempts to find a pass rusher.
Thomas would be able to come in without these expectations and pair with Lorenzo Carter, Grady Jarrett, and Devonte Wyatt to give the Falcons a boost and a chance at finding an elusive pass rush.
