Adding a player at the running back position will be optional for the Atlanta Falcons in this draft. With Cordarrelle Patterson coming back and Mike Davis still under contract the Falcons have options at the position.  The only way Atlanta should draft the position is if they get a chance in the later rounds to bring James Cook or Brian Robinson Jr. to Atlanta.

Brian Robinson Jr. is yet another prototypical Alabama running back looking to make the jump to the next level. His draft stock is low because of how little experience he has starting long term. However, what he put together at the end of the season as the Tide made another run to the National Championship was impressive.

He averaged 5.0-yards per carry with Alabama and showed an increased ability to catch the ball out of the backfield finishing with 35-receptions and 296-receiving yards. These numbers are all the more impressive when you consider how many targets quarterback Bryce Young was given. Two of those receivers are already off the board in this draft and Robinson becomes the next former Tide member to fly off the board.

Drafting Robinson will help establish the Atlanta run game and allow the Falcons to part ways with veteran Mike Davis opening up a bit of cap space.
