3. Isaiah Spiller, Texas A&M

Spiller is the polar opposite of the two running backs mentioned above as he’s limited as a pass catcher and does most of his work from between the tackles. Spiller moves quite well for being a 6’1, 215 pounder who possesses a good bit of mass. The Aggies leaned on Spiller as the lead back behind a big, physical OL as he put up back-to-back thousand-yard seasons but he wasn’t a workhorse exactly attempting under 190-carries in both years.

Spiller is a north-south runner who plays behind his pads and does so with authority and has a good combo of vision and patience. Spiller is stiff when redirecting and some added strength would certainly benefit him but this would be a nice pairing with Cordarrelle Patterson who’s a dual-threat back as the former Klein Collins standout could provide the ground and pound. Retooling one’s backfield in the NFL isn’t the toughest of challenges but the 2022 draft features a handful of guys that could help accomplish that goal rather sooner than later, as Atlanta has a veteran backfield but production hasn’t come with it and the young guns in Qadree Ollison and Caleb Huntley are unlikely to be the answer.

Next. Atlanta likely to lean on the run in 2022. dark
