The Atlanta Falcons are in the market for a new franchise quarterback following the stunning trade of all-time great, Matt Ryan.

Atlanta has one of the worst starting quarterback situations in the entire NFL, so they need to find the future at the position, and it seems like they are certainly considering taking a quarterback with their top pick in the draft.

Atlanta Falcons set to meet with Liberty QB Malik Willis

Malik Willis has separated himself as the most intriguing and probably the top quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft, so certainly the Falcons are interested in him.

As Adam Schefter tweeted, the Falcons and their division rival Carolina Panthers are set to visit with Willis next week, which comes about two weeks before the start of the draft.

This certainly shows that the team is at least interested in taking the Liberty quarterback, as they should be. Willis has elite arm talent but struggled with consistency against lower-level competition.

He is the most intriguing quarterback coming out this year and that is much of the reason why he is expected to be the first passer taken this year.

Whether or not the Falcons can even get him with the eighth overall pick is another question as his stock has shot up in recent months. You have teams like the Lions, Giants, and Panthers who all have higher picks than Atlanta and are also in need of a new quarterback.

It seems like Atlanta would need to trade up to grab the quarterback, and that makes it so much more complicated as you would be giving up picks knowing that you are a team that needs every pick they can get.

Certainly, Atlanta is interested in selecting Malik Willis, but it is another story if he will be available with the eighth pick.
