The Atlanta Falcons have created a mess on their roster due to a couple decisions that did not pan out as they would have hoped.

They have lost numerous players, but despite that, they have made a few solid signings that should not be overlooked.

The Falcons have made one huge mistake that makes it seem like they have had one of the, if not the, worst offseason among all NFL teams, and that is the decision to swing and miss on acquiring Deshaun Watson.

There is no denying it, the decision to aggressively pursue Watson was a huge move that ended up being a terrible idea as it has cost them their franchise quarterback, Matt Ryan. That is why the media sees the Falcons as having the league’s worst offseason.

However, when you consider the whole picture, Terry Fontenot has been solid after ignoring the major mistake.

The signing of Casey Hayward was one of the most underrated signings in the NFL this offseason. He is a star player, now on a cheap contract.

Not to mention, they have brought in an intriguing big-bodied wide receiver in Auden Tate, a speedy guy in Damiere Byrd, resigned Cordarrelle Patterson on a cheap contract, as well as a few other signings of players who will make an impact.

It is just that big decision that puts a stormcloud over the Falcons’ offseason while adding in the loss of Foye Oluokun and Russell Gage. The media has been pretty harsh on the team for what has transpired, many saying Atlanta has the “worst roster in football” following free agency.

The media, however, does not take into account everything, this team has done a lot with very little money available, and that is what counts, while they have also cleared the books for the next offseason.
