3 Best moves of the Atlanta Falcons off-season so far
By Nick Halden
The Atlanta Falcons’ off-season has been far from successful so far with Atlanta’s failed attempt to trade for Deshaun Watson and trading franchise icon Matt Ryan. Despite their poor decisions, the team has made some solid decisions that will set up the team for future success. This season the team will be saddled with more than $60-million in dead cap space.
This is a number that could grow even higher depending on what the Falcons decide to do with Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones, and Mike Davis. All veterans who could be cut or traded before the trade deadline this season. Davis in particular could become a cap casualty based on the rough 2021 season he put together.
Far too often Davis waited patiently behind a collapsing Atlanta Falcons offensive line for a tackler to find him.
Aside from Davis, it seems likely Atlanta will head into the season with the roster as is aside from additions in the draft. Their moves have been very deliberate in setting the team up for next season avoiding big contracts that could hurt the team next season.
With this in mind, Atlanta’s best moves of the off-season have been underwhelming due to the direction they are heading. Here are the best three moves the team has made thus far.
