3 Best moves of the Atlanta Falcons off-season so far
By Nick Halden
1. Giving Matt Ryan a chance to win elsewhere
Everything about the Matt Ryan trade was mismanaged from the reasoning, timing, and response to his exit the Falcons bungled the move. However, the move itself was what was best for Matt Ryan and a great move to give an Atlanta Falcons legend a chance to win now.
The Colts lack an elite receiving group but have every other asset a quarterback needs. Even with Carson Wentz, Jacoby Brissett, and an aging Phillip Rivers, the Colts have been playoff contenders over the last three years. Ryan is a player that will help them take that next step, a step Wentz was one win away from.
With a worse roster, Ryan beat the same Jaguars team that kept the Colts out of the playoffs. If Ryan doesn’t suffer any major regression the Colts will be a playoff team and give Ryan a shot at making a run.
For Atlanta, it was time to part ways with Ryan due to the roster you were capable of handing the veteran quarterback. Ryan wasn’t going to be able to elevate a roster incapable of supporting him. At this point in his career Ryan wasn’t a long-term option for a team that needed a full rebuild.
