3. Colin Kaepernick

Marcus Mariota and Colin Kaepernick are very similar players in both their play style and numbers. Colin deserves another shot in this league and the Falcons are in a great position to give him one. What can it hurt to bring in the veteran and allow him a chance to at least win the backup role? He has a better record and more playoff success than Marcus Mariota.

His touchdown to interception ratio is superior and he has at the very least an equal arm. Colin can run the same system as Mariota and would give the team a wildcard option if Mariota is injured or struggles as the starter. At this point in his career, he is simply looking for a chance and could likely be signed on a bargain deal.

Kaepernick has a career 28-30 record and like Mariota was benched for a less mobile option. Arguably both teams failed to find a better answer with the Titans and 49ers never getting any further in the playoffs than Kaepernick and Mariota carried their respective teams.

Colin would make Atlanta something they haven’t been in three seasons as well, interesting. His story goes beyond the NFL and would bring in new fans and make the team relevant in spite of their record.
