3 Teams clearly in a worse position than the Atlanta Falcons
By Nick Halden
2. The Detriot Lions
Perhaps the Lions surprise the NFL and pick a quarterback in the first round and find a way out of the irrelevance they have been stuck in for over a decade. Matthew Stafford brought them to three wildcard games and that has been as far as the team has gotten in recent history. Bounced three times and sent right back home, the team and Stafford decided to finally part ways. Sending Stafford to the Rams where he promptly won a Super Bowl while the Lions competed for the worst record in football.
Now the Lions have Jared Goff at the helm and are headed in what direction? Sure they have some nice pieces on their roster but who is going to want to come to Detriot to play with Goff? The team lacks clear building blocks and is likely in for another decade of disappointment. Even with one of the better franchise quarterbacks in the league the Lions only managed three playoff appearances and were promptly bounced in all three. Add in the fact they had one of the best receivers in NFL history and still couldn’t find a way to win a playoff game. Calvin retired early and the franchise seemingly found a way to even mismanage that decision.
