Jordan Schultz announced earlier today that Mike Davis, former Atlanta Falcons running back, signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Baltimore Ravens have signed a familiar name for Atlanta Falcons fans. Just over a week after being cut by the Falcons, the Ravens have signed running back, Mike Davis, to a one-year deal.

The Ravens announced they inked Davis to a one-year deal two hours after Schultz broke the news, with his salary for 2022 not yet announced.

Davis sits as a third-string running back according to the Baltimore Ravens’ depth chart on ESPN’s website. With Mike Davis entering, here’s how the Ravens’ running back room will look heading into 2022:

  • Starter: J.K. Dobbins
  • Backup: Gus Edwards
  • 3rd String: Mike Davis
  • 4th String: Justice Hill

After injuries plagued the Baltimore Ravens’ running back room taking out their top three running backs (J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and Justice Hill) in the preseason, the Ravens signed Latavius Murray and former Devonta Freeman, another former Atlanta Falcon.

With Dobbins and Edwards still recovering from torn ACLs, Davis could potentially get a bigger workload in Baltimore than expected before the season starts.

Mike Davis was released by the Atlanta Falcons on May 2nd, creating $2.5 million in cap space for the Falcons.

Davis signed with the Atlanta Falcons on a two-year, $5.5 million deal in a complete rebuild of their running back room.

In his one season with the Atlanta Falcons, Davis appeared in 16 games, starting eight of those games. Davis accumulated 473 yards on 132 carries, averaging 3.6 yards per carry, and scored three touchdowns. Davis also had 41 receptions for 261 yards for one touchdown.

After an underwhelming start with the Falcons, Davis was moved to a backup role, and Cordarrelle Patterson was put in as the starting running back moving forward.

Without Davis in the mix, here’s how the Atlanta Falcons running back room currently looks after the 2022 NFL Draft:

  • Starter: Cordarrelle Patterson
  • Backup: Damien Williams
  • 3rd String: Tyler Allgeier (Rookie)
  • 4th String: Qadree Ollison

The Falcons will look to continue to lean on breakout player Cordarrelle Patterson to lead their running back room heading into 2022.
