The Atlanta Falcons have had nothing short of a crazy off-season, from pursuing one of the league’s best quarterbacks in Deshaun Watson to trading away one of their greatest players in franchise history, it has been nuts.

With the recent release of each team’s 2022 schedule, we will look at which games the Falcons should and should not be favored to win.

Rarely will the Falcons be the favored team during the season

We know that the Atlanta Falcons will probably not make the playoffs and could possibly take a step back from last year, but sometimes that is necessary as the new regime has to clean up a mess left by the previous regime.

Atlanta also has one of the tougher schedules in the league as they have to play both of the Super Bowl teams from last year and many other playoff teams.

To open the season they will play the Saints at home and there is little chance they will be the favorite to win as the Aints have a more established defense.

The week after they take on the Super Bowl champion Los Angelos Rams, no need to waste time, there is no way they end up being the favorite.

The first game Atlanta could possibly be favored in is when they travel to Seattle. The Seahawks have a question mark at the quarterback position, much like the Falcons, after trading away Russell Wilson. This could be the first game of the year for them as the betting favorites, it just depends on how each team looks in the first two weeks.

Then there is a stretch of four weeks where they play the Browns, Buccaneers, 49ers, and Bengals, who are all the better team.

Afterwhich, there is a three-week stretch where they take on the Carolina Panthers twice, who is probably the easiest opponent the Falcons have on the year, with the Chargers in the middle. The Falcons should be favored against Carolina but not Los Angeles.

The next two weeks could also be two games where they have the advantage with the Bears coming to Atlanta and the Falcons traveling to Washington D.C. to take on the Commanders, both of those games could go either way.

That is the last of the Falcons perhaps being the favorites as they will finish out the season at home against the Steelers, on the road against the Saints and Ravens, and then at home to finish out the year against the Cardinals and Buccaneers.

Obviously, a lot can happen during an NFL season but as we stand right now, the Atlanta Falcons will at the very most be favored in five games, but the more probably total would be two or three games. It is going to be a long season.
