Three Atlanta Falcons players on their way out after the draft
Qadree Ollison – RB
Just three years ago the Atlanta Falcons used a fifth-round selection on running back Qadree Ollison out of Pittsburgh, now he will be clawing to make the roster as he has done for the past couple of years.
This, unfortunately, does seem like the end of the line for Ollison as a Falcon, barring any injury.
The team already had Cordarrelle Patterson who they signed to a new deal and Damien Williams who they brought in from Chicago. Those two fill very distinct roles in the offense.
Prior to the draft, it felt like Ollison could end up with the role as the downhill runner for Atlanta, but then they drafted Tyler Allgeier in the same round that Ollison was taken in—the fifth round.
Both of those guys are excellent at taking contact and staying on their feet but it is quite obvious that the team like Allgeier more, if they did not they would have never drafted him. You cannot blame them either as Allgeier ran as hard as anyone in college football.
So, Cordarrelle Patterson, Damien Williams, and Tyler Allgeier seem to be the trio of runners for the Falcons, leaving Qadree Ollison out of the picture.
Perhaps he could eventually make his way back as he did impress with his limited carries last season.
