3. Terance Mathis- 7,349-receiving yards

Terance Mathis due to the teams he was a part of and the era he played in is often overlooked when considering the best receivers in franchise history. Mathis was putting up great numbers before every offense was dominated by a pass-first mindset. Mathis started his career with the New York Jets spending four forgettable seasons with the Jets before having a breakout season in year five with Atlanta.

In his first season with the Falcons, Mathis had an impressive 1994-season racking up 1,342-receiving yards and 11-touchdowns while averaging 12.1-yards-per-catch. Mathis spent eight years of his thirteen-year career with the Falcons.

Perhaps his most memorable moment with the Falcons was a one-handed catch against the Vikings in the 1998-NCF championship. Mathis finished that game with 2-touchdowns and was pivotal to Atlanta pulling the upset over the Vikings.

Mathis will not be remembered as the great receiver he should be due to Atlanta’s lack of success during his time with the team. Outside of the 1998-season the Falcons often were the doormat of the league and not the competitive team Mathis deserved to be a part of.

Without a clear threat on Atlanta’s roster, Mathis should have his record continue to stand keeping him inside the top five all-time for many years to come.
