3 Ways the Atlanta Falcons improved this off-season
By Nick Halden
1. Giving Matt Ryan a chance to win now
While it was a product of the Atlanta Falcons making the wrong move at the quarterback position Atlanta did the right thing by giving Matt Ryan a chance to win now. Atlanta didn’t send Ryan to a team that gave them the best return but to the team that was the best fit for the Falcons icon and gave him a shot to compete for a Super Bowl in the final years of his deal.
Atlanta has never given Ryan an offensive line and running game as talented as the group Matt will now join in Indy. In a winnable division and with an offensive line that won’t make him the league’s punching bag Ryan is going to push himself back into relevance and remind the league just how great he can be.
From the Falcon’s perspective, they made the right move despite getting a poor return for the quarterback. Atlanta could have played hardball with Ryan and refused to move the quarterback to his preferred destination or attempted to keep him for another season.
Instead, the team owned their mistake and sent Ryan to the team he chose. While the reasoning behind the move was questionable the move itself was the right decision for a veteran who didn’t deserve to endure yet another rebuild in Atlanta.
