3. Matt Ryan

To be clear Matt Ryan makes this list through no fault of his own. For fourteen years Atlanta had a franchise quarterback capable of elevating the talent around him and has zero rings to show for it. With only two serious playoff runs and a lot of forgettable years, they wasted much of Ryan’s prime.

This is a fact that will haunt the Falcons in retrospect as well as this season as Ryan shows the league what he is still capable of with a stable roster and front office in Indy. Ryan’s tenure in Atlanta will be remembered for the numbers he put up and the Super Bowl run that ended in an epic collapse.

Watching Ryan with the Colts will be a reminder of just how great he is capable of being and how often Atlanta wasted their potential.

There is also the consideration Atlanta hasn’t found their franchise quarterback in Desmond Ridder and let Ryan go too quickly because of a terrible decision. Deciding to chase Deshaun Watson this off-season is looking worse by the day and it was a decision that led to Ryan wanting to leave Atlanta.
