3. C.J. Stroud

Unless the college season drastically changes from expectations it seems likely that C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young will be the first two quarterbacks off the board in next year’s draft. This is more than fair for two players with obvious talent and plenty of reason to think it will translate to the next level. The one concern with Bryce Young if you’re Atlanta is obvious and was on full display against the Georgia Bulldogs in the championship game.

Young is a small player who has some escapability but won’t be able to use it often and hold up against NFL level hits. He was hurting during the game against Georgia and begin to make mistakes without the protection he was used to having.

Stroud may not have faced this level of pressure, however, his size and arm make him a better fit for the Atlanta Falcons. If Atlanta is searching for a quarterback next off-season they will likely have a high draft pick to work with and will be able to draft Stroud or Young.

Stroud is the better fit with the right mix of arm strength and ability to make plays out of the pocket. Drafting a quarterback in back-to-back years is absolutely on the table for a franchise badly in need of a long-term answer at the most important position on the football field.
