While there is a reason for optimism surrounding the direction the Atlanta Falcons are heading it is hard to think they will find much success this season. The team is still searching for an answer at the quarterback position with rookie Desmond Ridder and veteran bridge quarterback Marcus Mariota serving as the team’s current options.

It seems likely Mariota will at least start the year for the Falcons limiting their potential even more so. This isn’t to slight Mariota but rather the reality of starting a veteran bridge quarterback on a below-average roster. The Atlanta Falcons have gotten better this off-season and laid the groundwork for the future.

To set themselves up for better seasons the team will be dealing with $63.2-million in dead cap. The biggest part of that number is still due to the Julio Jones trade and the recent Matt Ryan deal. Next season Atlanta will have plenty of cap space to chase the best players in free agency or on the trade market.

First, the Atlanta Falcons and their fans must endure one more long season of rebuilding before the team makes the needed moves to contend. With this in mind, Atlanta fans may need another team to watch with a true chance to make the playoffs. Here are three teams that should be easy for Atlanta Falcons fans to root for this season.
