Where does Marcus Mariota rank among NFC South Quarterbacks?
By Nick Halden
The Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Bucs all dealt with huge quarterback issues this off-season. Three teams from the NFC South were in on Deshaun Watson before the Saints settled for Jameis Winston and the Panthers for Sam Darnold. The Atlanta Falcons found their bridge quarterback in Marcus Mariota while drafting Desmond Ridder in the third round.
Tampa Bay is the only team whose quarterback situation went according to plan. After a short-lived retirement, Tom Brady returned the Bucs are loading up for a run at another ring. Brady will be entering the final year of his deal in Tampa and what the rest of the division hopes is his final year in the NFC South.
If there was a theme for the NFC South this off-season it was certainly the turmoil at the quarterback position. The Carolina Panthers are still facing questions with Sam Darnold currently locked in as the starter, however, the team has been tied to both Cam Newton and Baker Mayfield this off-season.
It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see the team bring in another quarterback before the pre-season. Ranking the quarterbacks in the NFC South is obvious and indicates not only the team’s talent at the position but where each team is likely to finish within the division.
