3. Mentality

Never turn your back on a team desperate for success, we watched this narrative play out with the Bengals last season as they shocked the league making it all the way to the Super Bowl giving the eventual champs all they could handle.

This current roster of Atlanta Falcons have been written off more than almost any other I can bring to mind. There has even been debate as to whether or not the Falcons are ‘tanking’, a preposterous notion when applied to young men playing professional football trying to win and establish themselves in this league.

Cordarelle Patterson, Auden Tate, and Isaiah Oliver are three names that jump out in particular whose names stand out among the Atlanta off-season moves. All, in their own ways, have something to prove. Add to that Drake London and his fellow rookie draft class, and it isn’t hard to see a theme developing in Flowery Branch. Much has been made of the so-called ‘chip on your shoulder’ mentality GM Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith are fostering in Atlanta, and the team is taking on that identity.

The Atlanta Falcons may not win the Super Bowl this season, but they might just surprise a few people in what could be an entertaining 2022 season.
