The Atlanta Falcons may not be a playoff contender this season, however, for some players that will only increase their value in fantasy leagues. The Falcons are often going to be playing from behind and piling up yardage against prevent defenses in comeback attempts. While this might now be ideal for Falcons fans it does increase the value of several notable names in fantasy football this season.

One potential draft mistake Atlanta fans should avoid is picking the Falcons’ defense. While the unit is going to improve it will still likely be in the bottom half of the league. Atlanta’s defense will improve but with the loss of Matt Ryan and the number of questions facing the secondary and pass rush Atlanta fans should pass on rostering the Falcons defense.

Similarly, Marcus Mariota should be avoided as he hasn’t proven himself as anything more than a bottom-tier quarterback. The only reason Mariota should be on a fantasy roster is as a low-end backup for a team with a top quarterback.

Even if Mariota is feeding the players around him and piling up yardage he is mistake-prone and the Atlanta offense is set up to score on the ground more consistently this season. Mariota should be avoided in favor of these five Atlanta Falcons this season.
