There is uncertainty about who the starting off-ball linebackers will be for the Falcons

A year ago we would have said Deion Jones is the unquestioned starter for the Falcons’ inside linebacker position but after an extremely poor year, his job is in serious jeopardy.

Prior to Jones’ surgery that will keep him out of any offseason activities, it seemed like he might be traded to another team and now that is unlikely to happen, which only further complicates the situation.

You have a veteran linebacker who has been a star in the past but had a terrible year last season and now will not participate in training camp and probably preseason, what do you do if he is healthy to start the season? Do you start him or sit him for another guy who has been healthy?

It is a tough answer, to say the least. The Falcons also have Mykal Walker, they drafted Troy Anderson and signed both Rashaan Evans and Nick Kwiatkowski. It is honestly difficult to envision Debo starting the year if he is healthy.

The best guess is that Mykal Walker and Rashaan Evans will take the majority of snaps as both of them are healthy right now and familiar with Dean Pees’ scheme.
