3 Veteran free agent receivers the Atlanta Falcons could sign
By Nick Halden
1. Cole Beasley
The fact that Cole Beasley is still a free agent is surprising and might simply suggest like Julio, Cole is waiting on the right opportunity. Still, he is a perfect fit for the Atlanta Falcons and should be offered a contract. He is still a productive player Mariota can lean on to make key catches while being the third or fourth option at the receiver position.
Cole finished last season with the Bills totaling 693-receiving yards despite being part of an offense with a myriad of weapons. Beasley is still only thirty-three and is more than capable of being a productive slot receiver on the right team.
Beasley started his career in Dallas before joining the Bills and becoming a productive member of one of the best offenses in the league. He has 5,709 career receiving yards speaking to the fact he has never been the first option in his career.
Cole is at his best when he is the third or fourth receiver on a team and can find open space to make the clutch catch. The one question mark for Atlanta will be how much Beasley expects to make?
The Falcons have limited cap space left and shouldn’t be willing to give Beasley anything more than a veteran one-year deal keeping salary cap flexibility. If Beasley is willing to sign such a deal there should be no hesitation from the Falcons in bringing Beasley to Atlanta.
