The 2022 Atlanta Falcons season is a year that won’t be focused on wins and losses but on player development and finding the pieces the Falcons need to contend in the 2023 season. While they may not be directly tanking Atlanta is obviously not focused on winning this season. The team is attempting an accelerated rebuild eating as many bad contracts as they can this season setting the team up to spend big in the 2023 off-season.

While they may not be playoff contenders Atlanta will still attempt to be competitive this season as evidenced by the off-season. Atlanta added veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota as a bridge and brought in a myriad of veteran and rookie options to compete and attempt to make the roster better.

Atlanta is attempting to find ways to improve despite having very little cap space and questions at the quarterback position. While they will still finish in the bottom of the league due to a young rebuilding roster the Falcons should still be watchable.

With this in mind, who on Atlanta’s roster will be fighting for their job and place in Atlanta’s future this season? Three players stand out as clear options for a group whose focus is finding the building blocks this season.
