2. Byron Leftwich

Not only did Byron Leftwich win a Super Bowl as the Tampa Bay Bucs offensive coordinator he has an extensive career as a quarterback including a short stint with the Atlanta Falcons. Leftwich is another candite who certainly deserved more consideration as a head coach this previous off-season.

For two years he has helped oversee one of the best offenses in the league while working with a myriad of personalities. The only possible knock on Leftwich is if teams believed Tom Brady and Bruce Arians were doing a lot of the heavy lifting on offense. We will find out whether or not there is any truth in that now the Arians has stepped down and Leftwich is returning as the offensive coordinator.

Another successful season for the Tampa offense would certainly demand Byron get an opportunity as a head coach. In an offense-driven league, Bryon Leftwich reuniting with the Falcons as the head coach would be a great move for both sides if Arthur Smith doesn’t prove to be the answer.

Tampa Bay has finished each of the last two seasons as a top-five offense winning a Super Bowl against the Chiefs in Byron’s first season as the offensive coordinator. Another top-five finish would make it impossible to argue Bryon isn’t one of the top head coaching candidates next off-season.
