1. Deion Jones

Deion Jones is the most obvious inclusion on this list and certainly wouldn’t be a major shock if the team decided to trade or cut. The team’s best option is to allow Jones to get healthy and attempt to play and rebuild his value either setting up Atlanta to make a beneficial trade or proving he is still the long term answer at the position.

As much as Deions future has been discussed the Falcons opting to cut the linebacker would still send shockwaves throught the Atlanta fanbase. He has been a stalwart in the Atlanta defense and one of the few consistently productive members of the Atlanta defense before his regression last season.

If Atlanta is truly willing to take another huge dead cap hit and allow Mykal Walker to take over cutting Jones is an option. One the team has to consider if they don’t believe he can bounceback from last season.

Cutting Jones saves the Falcons hardly any cap space the move would simply be about eating the dead cap this season and opening up room to make moves next season and allowing the team to evaluate their young linebackers. Deion Jones should be given another chance but the former LSU standout being a cut is a possibility.
