First Takeaway: The Falcons are still undecided on who will be the starting center

The Falcons late last season realized they needed to switch their offensive line up a little bit, resulting in Drew Dalman taking over for Matt Hennessy every once in a while.

For the most part, Hennessy was still the starter but the team just wanted to see what the results would be like if they inserted Dalman in there.

While one might say that the biggest problem was with the guy to their left, it was still good to see that the coaching staff was willing to make changes.

Now here we are getting ready for the 2022 season and there is even more question about who will be the future of the middle of the Falcons offensive line. On the official depth chart, the starting center spot is filled in with “Matt Hennessy -OR- Drew Dalman.”

Yeah, so, we are no closer to figuring out who the starter is and it is obvious that the coaches want to crown the guy who ends up playing the best during the preseason. It is the smartest move when it comes down to it, we all just want the best player to play, and they are fortunately not rushing a decision.

Matt Hennessy and Drew Dalman might just be the biggest battle for a starting position on this team.

Let’s also point out that Elijah Wilkinson is listed as the starting left guard, which is no surprise to anyone who has been following the Falcons’ training camp as Jalen Mayfield has been dealing with an injury.
