Safeties – Richie Grant, Erik Harris, Tre Webb, Henry Black, Teez Tabor, Dean Marlowe

Falcons fans should be getting excited about Richie Grant going into his second year. We do not need to go over his rookie year again but he has been one of the most impressive players through training camp for the Falcons. Reports are that he has been the only player able to consistently cover Kyle Pitts.

Grant only played 12 snaps and played well. We need to see him more in order to know what he may look like during the season.

As for the veteran Erik Harris, he played decently on his 20 snaps. He is one of those players that you know what you will get from him but he does not have the upside of Richie Grant or Jaylinn Hawkins — who was out in this game.

Interestingly for Teez Tabor, he is listed as a cornerback on the Falcons roster but the coaches seem to be playing him at safety. We do not want to overreact to a preseason game of course, but he was excellent back there in coverage. Not to mention, he also can play corner, it would be surprising if he does not end up making the final roster.

As for the rest of the guys — Tre Webb, Henry Black, and Dean Marlowe — there is not much to report on, they were all solid.

This position was not the weak spot of the Falcons’ defense. Every player who went out there played well, specifically Teez Tabor.
