Daniel Jones – New York Giants

Could the Atlanta Falcons take a chance on a guy that the Giants thought would be their successor to Eli Manning? Perhaps.

This, much like Heinicke, probably won’t be the most popular of choices, but Jones is a former sixth-overall pick and he has intriguing talent.

Jones has been a little bit over-criticized during his time in the league, most of that likely has to do with playing in a city that does not handle losing very well, which also tarnishes what outsiders think of him. After all, who would want to play in the city of New York and their harsh fans?

Does that mean he has ever been close to being one of the elite quarterbacks in the league? Probably not, but he has potential.

He might have been over drafted by Dave Gettleman, but they saw something in him that intrigued them enough. Some of that is due to his athleticism. He may not be Marcus Mariota, but he has the ability to extend plays and take off for long touchdown runs, or at least get close to the endzone and then trip.

Arthur Smith also has a history of taking a seemingly broken quarterback and turning them into pretty darn good players.

Athletic ability, decent arm talent, and playing for a city that isn’t New York with a coach who has turned a quarterback’s career around in the past, it might just be a recipe for success.
